Academy classes are held at the Brunswick Division of Police Headquarters, 4095 Center Road, Brunswick.
The Academy is designed to allow citizens an opportunity to gain information and insight into the daily operations of the Brunswick Division of Police, allow for positive interaction between officers and citizens and develop candidates for the volunteer program. All applicants must work or reside in the City of Brunswick and be at least 18 years of age to apply. The class is limited to 14 people and is free of charge. Class topics will include SWAT, criminal investigation techniques, traffic patrol, community policing programs, court system, canine program, dispatch, 9-1-1, and identity theft.
The Academy will meet on a weekday evening, for three hours for a total of eight weeks. To successfully complete the Academy, attendees cannot miss more than three hours of the 24 hour total. Those selected for the Volunteer Program would take part in basic administrative duties, assist with community events and traffic control, and be a part of the city’s emergency preparedness plan. Brunswick Citizens’ Police Academy Alumni Association (BCPAAA) is an energetic group of citizens dedicated to civic service on behalf of the Brunswick Division of Police and our community.
Citizens interested in attending the academy must complete an application and background check. The final selection for attendance will be determined by members of the Academy staff. Applications can be obtained at the Brunswick Police Station, or click on the button below.

History of the Brunswick Citizens’ Police Academy
The Brunswick Citizens’ Police Academy (BCPA) was born in September 2005. A second BCPA session began in February 2006 with the graduation ceremony for the 15 participants held in April. After several planning meetings, the Brunswick Citizens’ Police Academy Alumni Association (BCPAAA) was established in June 2006.
